Nepal Trek - Pikey Peak (4065m)
The Pikey Peak trek is a truly astonishing journey through the Solukhumbu. It’s no secret that this is one of Graham’s favourite treks to lead groups on in Nepal. Pikey Peak itself give trekkers a taste of life on the trail, and with the summit being at just over 4000m it also give an ideal introduction to trekking at altitude. The approach is through jungle with tempting glimpses of the highest mountains on the planet as you go. While Pikey Peak itself isn’t particularly technical - anyone with a reasonable level of mountain fitness gained on regular walks in the UK should be able to have a successful ascent - the views from the top are easily one of the very best in the whole of Nepal. On a recent trek here Graham and his group enjoyed a dawn ascent, which gave views across much of the Nepal Himalaya as the sun rose. These views took in everything from the distant Annapurna range to Manaslu, the Ganesh Himal, Langtang and Jugal Himal, Rolwaling and Gaureshankar, to the high peaks of the Khumbu including Numbur, Everest, Thamserku, Mera Peak, Baruntse and Makalu, while far away to the east Kanchenjunga stood firm on the horizon.
Highlights include:
Enjoy the sights and sounds of Kathmandu
Take a private jeep journey into the mountains to the start of the trek at Dhap.
Trek through the foothills cloaked with jungle.
