Nepal Expedition - Khumbu Mountaineering

Pachermo Peak - 6187m

A true Himalayan wilderness adventure, the Pachermo Peak climb via the remote Rolwaling Valley combines untouched mountain landscapes, authentic Sherpa culture, glacier travel, and an exciting alpine ascent. Starting from Gonggar Khola and finishing in Lukla, the journey crosses the spectacular Tashi Lapcha Pass (5,755m), linking the hidden Rolwaling region with the Everest region before climbing Pachermo Peak (6,187m). Pachermo peak was first climbed in 1955.

It has a north-by-northwest ridge, which rises from the crevassed glacier astride the Tashi Lapcha. We have a high camp near the Tashi Lapcha then have to cross wide, crevassed snow slopes to gain the north ridge of Pachermo. The ridge is followed with little difficulties, although in some conditions crevasses might give problems towards the summit. Several parties have reported a difficult ice step caused by a large crevasse about 100m from the summit. This changes year on year, and that is all part of the adventure!

This expedition offers breathtaking Himalayan scenery, remote high mountain trails, and panoramic views of the Everest region peaks, making it an ideal adventure for experienced trekkers and aspiring mountaineers seeking a challenging and rewarding Himalayan experience. Due to the high altitude, glacier crossings, steep terrain, and alpine conditions, this trip is suitable only for experienced trekkers with good physical fitness and basic winter mountaineering skills.

Highlights include:

  • Climb Pachermo Peak (6,187m), one of Nepal’s classic trekking peaks

  • Explore the remote and less-visited Rolwaling Valley

  • Cross the challenging Tashi Lapcha Pass (5,755m)

  • Trek through traditional Sherpa villages and pristine alpine wilderness

  • Stunning views of Gauri Shankar, Menlungtse, and Everest region peaks

  • Finish the journey in Lukla

  • Combination of trekking, glacier travel, and alpine climbing experience
