Expedition Skills Module
This module is designed as an addition to Mountain Training's Lowland Leader Award and Hill & Moorland Leader Award, for leaders who want to take groups on multi-day camping expeditions in terrain and conditions within the scope of their award. It may also be of value to Mountain Leader Award holders. Our Expedition Skills Module courses are held throughout the Pennines.
The Expedition Skills Module covers the following subjects:
The course starts with an introductory session when your tutor will outline the plans for the next two days. The day sessions will be outdoor based and will run from 9am to about 5pm. At the end of the first day you'll camp at a suitable location and have a short session to review the day and plan the following day. There will also be an opportunity to share tips and ideas on expedition foods and cooking over dinner. For Hill & Moorland Award holders this will be in hill country, possibly using wild campsites for our overnight stays. For Lowland Leader Award holders, the overnight camps will be on farm campsites. The teaching is informal and friendly and the days include plenty of breaks. The full syllabus and Scheme Handbook can be viewed on the Mountain Training website
